Integrative Counselling in Exmouth, Devon and online.
At times in life, you my find yourself unsure, anxious, depressed. You may have experienced a loss or going through a transition. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed and on autopilot. You may have concerns for the future and feel stuck about what to do next, although sense you need some support. You are not alone.
Making the decision to speak with a counsellor is the first step. This may feel daunting, and you may not be sure how I can help. I am an integrative adult counsellor and have complimented this with mindfulness training. I currently work part time with a community counselling service in Wellington, Somerset and volunteer with The Nest in Exeter which supports women through life transitions including childbirth, parenting and the menopause.
My integrative approach will be as unique as you. My training involved theory and practice of various approaches to counselling. In this way your counselling can be tailored to your current needs. The foundation of this is our therapeutic relationship. Right from the start my approach is open, warm, and compassionate. I will meet you where you are and show respect, listen and not judge. We will agree on how we work together, and the focus will be led by you at your pace. This may involve sharing aspects of your life to gain awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to better understand yourself and others. This can empower you to make decisions going forward in your life. I believe in each person to do this with the right support. Mindfulness can be weaved into the counselling to support you with relaxation, connecting to your body and inner wisdom. I also work creatively which can aid self-awareness. This may be in the form of sand tray and guided visualisations.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy I follow their ethical framework.
